A conversation with...
Laetitia Lumbroso-Revenu (IFM MS 2006)
As we begin the new year, Laetitia Lumbroso-Revenu was the alumna who took part in our "A conversation with…" series. The co-founder and co-CEO of Destree reflects on her first fashion memory, the encounters that shaped her career, and offers some of her best advice for anyone looking to follow in her footsteps and create their own brand.
What’s your earliest fashion memory?
My first memory of fashion goes back to my grandmother, who was of Russian origin and always wore extravagant fur hats.
Were there pivotal moments in your career, encounters that changed everything for you?
There are two encounters that had a real impact on me. The first was with Sidney Toledano, my boss when I worked at Dior. Our conversations were always incredibly inspiring. The second was with my associate Géraldine Guyot, with whom I co-founded Destree. It was a professional coup de foudre—we instantly connected and shared the same vision.
Can you share a moment from your time at IFM that left a lasting impression on you?
I graduated in 2006, back when we were still based on Rue Jean-Goujon, near Avenue Montaigne. One of the highlights was having the chance to interview Sonia Rykiel for an Anne Sinclair show on France Inter. I will never forget that moment, her energy, her passion for fashion, her unique perspective on women and the world, and of course, her sense of humor.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own brand?
Network as much as possible, meet people, don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek help when you need it. And always be open about both your successes and your challenges.
