Marche et Démarche, une histoire de la chaussure

On Thursday, November 7th at 6.15 pm, we invite you to take part to a private visit of the exhibition "Marche et Démarche, une histoire de la chaussure".
The Musée des Arts décoratif pays hommage to the shoe, in all its forms, in an exhibition titled 'Marche et démarches', a history of the shoe. What is the status of the shoe? How do we walk in the West and elsewhere? This fascinating exhibition attempts to answer these questions over a period ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day.
After «La Mécanique des dessous» (2013) and «Tenue correcte exige! » (2017) , the Museum of Decorative Arts continues the exploration of the relationship between body and fashion with a surprising and original third part around the shoe, walking and walking. The exhibition "Marche et démarche", from November 7, 2019 to February 23, 2020, examines the status of this indispensable accessory of everyday life by visiting the different ways of walking, from the Middle Ages to today, both in the West and in non-European cultures. How do women, men and children walk through time, cultures and social groups? Nearly 500 works: shoes, paintings, photographs, works of art, films and advertisements, from French public and private collections
